Anderson Silva has expressed an interest in meeting Chuck Liddell in a New Year's Eve superfight.
His next fight is a middleweight title defence against Patrick Cote on October 25th. However, if he wins that fight and escapes injury, he would like to fight again at the end of 2008.
"We're
not looking past Patrick Cote, but I think we'll take one step at a
time and see what happens," Silva's manager Ed Soares told MMA Weekly
Radio. "If a Chuck Liddell fight came up, we'd take it," he added. Soares
says his fighter is looking to fight "big mega fights" to cement his
reputation as the world's best pound-for-pound mixed martial artist. Pundits had suggested that he might face welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in a superfight. But the UFC recently announced that the Canadian would be fighting lightweight boss BJ Penn instead. That fight is rumoured to be taking place at a UFC event in January which will be staged over the Superbowl weekend. John Joe O'Regan John.fightersonly@gmail.com
